War of the Spark | Some of our favorite cards

So many awesome cards, where to start? How about with a Boar God?

Ilharg, the Raze Boar

Legendary Creature - Boar God

Whenever Ilharg, the Raze-Boar attacks, you may put a creature card from your hand onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. Return that creature to your hand at the beginning of the next end step.

When Ilharg, the Raze-Boar dies or is put into exile from the battlefield, you may put it into its owner's library, third from the top.

OK, so this card is pretty bonkers. First, it's a good value at a 5 CMC for a 6/6 body with Trample. It's a great value when you add the built-in Sneak Attack. It's an insane value when you add in the recursion. Expect to see this Boar God smashing people in limited, bringing Ghalta into the fray in constructed, and wreaking havoc in Commander. Couple them with Domri, Anarch of Bolas to make them un-counterable, and Rhythm of the Wild to give them Haste and you're sure to have a good time.

Spark Double

Creature - Illusion

You may have Spark Double enter the battlefield as a copy of a creature or planeswalker you control, except it enters with an additional +1/+1 counter on it if it’s a creature, it enters with an additional loyalty counter on it if it’s a planeswalker, and it isn’t legendary if that permanent is legendary.

OK, so this is a really sweet card and a nice cloning effect for standard (well, for all formats really!). This is similar to Helm of the Host in that if the permanent being copied is Legendary, the copy isn't. Who wouldn't want two copies of Teferi, Hero of Dominaria on the battlefield at the same time?!

Seriously though, this card has potential in many formats. Have two Shalai, Voice of Plenty on the battlefield? Two Atraxa, Praetors' Voice? The possibilities are endless! Expect this card to find a home in Commander and limited decks alike.

Nissa, Who Shakes the World

Legendary Planeswalker - Nissa

Whenever you tap a Forest for mana, add an additional {G}.

+1: Put three +1/+1 counters on up to one target noncreature land you control. Untap it. It becomes a 0/0 Elemental creature with vigilance and haste that’s still a land.

-8: You get an emblem with “Lands you control have indestructible.” Search your library for any number of Forest cards, put them onto the battlefield tapped, then shuffle your library.

Starting Loyalty: 5

OK, so this Nissa Planeswalker is going to find a home in mono-green Commander decks simply due to her static ramp ability. Personally, I'll be slotting her into my mon0-green Elves for some rampin good times. Her ultimate ability can be hastened by the many Proliferate cards in MTGWAR, so don't discount that when evaluating putting her into one of your decks in limited or standard.

Let us know in the comments below how you did at your pre-release last weekend! What were your all-star pulls?
